Hi all,
I have a small problem with my SQL 7.0 Server.
I continue to get the error message:

An error 1069 - (The service did not start due to a logon failure.) occurred
while performing this service operation on the MSSQLServer service.

In the event log I get:
Errors 7000 and 7013, re the Service Control Manager not being able to logon
because of a logon failure.

I research the Knowledge Base and can only find reference to SBS which I
don't use.

Please help.
Thanx in advance.

Hi,
Check the MSSQLServer Service account.
If you are using the administrator, re-enter the password.
Or use Local System .
Regards.

David,

NT's Service Control Manager tries to log on using the wrong password (the
password has expired or have been changed) for the NT Account that the
MSSQLServer service is using.

Control Panel, services, MSSQLServer, Startup.

David,

Check control panel/services, choose the mssqlserver service and then choose
startup. Check what account is being used. Make sure that the password is
correct. Make sure that the account has "logon as a service" user right.

Thank you for your responses.
I've checked the Services and they are correct.
I did have one issue last week where I inadvertently deleted my SQLServer
account.
I have read where even if you redo the account with the same user name and
password, that something to do with the ACL and USERID will never match.
Could this be my problem?
For my account to start MSSQLServer, is the most important Right: log on as
service?
Regards,

David,

Just start SQL with the System account for now. Then you can create another
account and use it to start SQL.
Cntrl Panel, Services, MSSQLServer, Startup..., Logon As
