I think there is some problem with the SQL service account. I had originally installed it under local admin (./Administrator), but could not register with AD that way. So I re-installed as DOMAIN/Administrator and this is the message I get:

'Error 14354: Cannot start the MSSQLServerADHelper service. Verify that the serice account for this SQL server instance has the neccessary permission to start the MSSQLServerADHelper service.'

This error does not produce any results on MS Support, Google, or any SQL newsgroups I've tried. I also fail when installing Report Services (eval) on 'cannot start Reporter service' which seems like it could be related problem. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks,
Dave

Probably something went wrong with the install where some registry keys are
missing - reinstalling is the cleanest option in this case (would work for
sure). Otherwise check the service account for SQL Server to make sure it
has the appropriate permissions.

How did you change the service account name? If you do it in Enterprise
Manager all necessary rights and permissions should be set (except disk
permissions - those have to be set manually)
