install ms sql server2000 on windows 7

Dear all
I installed windows 7 instead of windows XP

then i tried to install MS SQL Server 2000 personal edition the installation
completed but the service for the sql server didnt work

so can ms sql server works with windows 7?

or which edition should i use??

There is no support for running SQL 2000 on Windows Vista, Win 2008 or Win7.
I have heard of people who still are able to run SQL 2000 on Vista, but I
have not heard of anyone doing it on Win7. But I haven't asked around.

I would suggest that you consider upgrading to SQL 2008 Express Edition. If
you absolutely need to have SQL 2000, I think your best bet is to create a
virtual machine with XP on it.
