hi,
i have sql server 2005 and sql server 2008 installed in my computer, but,
when i launch management studio 2005 and select one of the followings
server type combobox items : database engine, analysis services, reporting
services, sql server compact edition, any server name item is proposed to me
in the server name combo box. if i try to write '(local)' or computer name or
computer name\express in that combo box, server connection error message is
returned when i submit.

but when i choose integration services in server type combo box, the
computer name is automatically selected.

with ssms 2008,computer name\express is proposed when making the same action
for all server type items.

i would like to work with ssms 2005 database engine and i don't want to
reinstall it

what should i do?

any help is welcome

Are you able to connect with SSMS 2008?

Not really sure why. If you have SSMS 2008 on your machine, you can use it
to connect to SSMS 2005 as well.
