exporting to excel

From what i can tell... when you export from SQL 2008 sp1 to excel, it
exports it as excel 97-2003 format. That format allows for 256 columns or
less. From doing a bing, it appears that excel 2005 on up supports a lot
more columns then 256. Is that true. If that is true, does anyone know if
RS is going to start letting you export to a newer version of excel and
export to more than 256 columns. It doesn't look like R2 is going to.

A way around this would be to export CSV. This will automatically be shown
in Excel. And it is very fast as well.
