I am not able to connect to SQL 2005 SSIS from SQL 2008 SSMS. I get following
error.

Connect to SSIS service on machine xxxxx failed "class not registered"

How come I am getting this error? I have 2008 server and 2005 client tools
on my machine.

Thanks,
Prabhu

Yeah, this is annoying, but that's the way it is.

In short: you'll need 2005 SSMS to connect to 2005 SSIS. Even Microsoft
doesn't always get backwards compatibility right.

This is really frustrating. MS came up with SQL 2008 pretty fast and not
having client tools backward compatibility is really awful.
