I installed and configured WUS last monday, and have a problem with the WUS
server downloading the actual update files for the clients to install. The
WUS server is actually downloading the updates from the server so that I can
authorise or deny them, however the server is not actually downloading the
files. For the last week and a half it has stayed at downloading 0.00 of xxx
MB, although the number of files to download increases depending upon the
amount of updates I authorise.
I am currently connecting to the MS website via MS proxy 2 (soon to be ISA
2004), and cant see any errors in the event log on the server. I can browse
the Internet without any problems. The Network service service also has read
access to the root of the drive and the actual wuscontent folder.
Anyone know how to get this working?

Are there any warnings or errors in the %program files%\update
services\logfiles\softwaredistribution.log?

The way i got around it was by allowing anon access to *.microsoft.com and
*.windowsupdate.com to my wsus server.
Which is a nasty hack but it does work great.
Some other people talk about using proxycfg.exe but i have not tried that.
Hope this may help
