I need a little help manually downloading patches distributed via SMS
Software Updates and understanding how these binaries differ from regular
patches.
The system I am working on is no longer allowed to connect to the internet
by any means. This was not too bad since I had already downloaded the bulk
of my patches and if I needed one or two just downloaded them manually using
the links in Software Updates. The problem now is that I have to download 30
patches and this is very tedious. Is there central resource the lists the
download locations for the patches or is there an easier way the I am missing?
My second question relates to the difference with the patch binaries that
Software Updates uses and the patches that you get from Automatic Updates or
the download site?
The reason I am asking is I wanted to deploy Server 2003 SP2 via SMS (using
Software Updates) and I tried to use the regular SP2 executable I already
have and Software Updates would't accept it. Plus the name of the executable
is different for SP2 (I think this is the same for other patches as well).
What's the deal?
Thanks
