A partner of my company made a horrible installation of SMS 2003 that I had
to rebuild from scratch. I didnt reinstall the clients, because I thought
that naming the SMS site the same way the clients would re-connect to the
server and everything would work as expected.
This has worked as expected, excepting in one case: i have a remote site
where I just have a distribution point. In this remote site Im unable to
reinstall succesfully the SMS Client to any computer, even uninstalling SMS
Client and reinstalling from scratch.
ccmexec.log in every client computer says:
<![LOG[HTTP ERROR: URL=http://distserver.gelso.inet/ccm_system/request,
Port=80, Code=12007,
Text=ERROR_WINHTTP_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED]LOG]!><time="16:46:43.069+-120"
date="05-14-2008" component="CcmExec" context="" type="1" thread="3768"
file="ccmhttperror.cpp:121">
This would be a major problem if it wasnt because my server is not named
distserver.gelso.inet but distserver.gelos.inet (gelos instead of gelso).
It seems my partner wrote badly somewhere this name in some configuration
screen...
What can I do? How can I change tthis in all the remote site computers?
Thansk in advance for your answer.
You should use AD users and computers to check your AD. Click View ->
Advanced features, go to System -> System Management. Check if the MP object
still points to the old address (you may need to use some tool like AD query
to check the property). If yes, delete the old entry, restart sitecomp and
smsexec service on the site server so that they can re-publish the entry.
Note: You also need to ensure your site server's computer account has
permission to write to AD location above. You can check hman.log and
sitecomp.log to verify it the AD write is successhul.

Thanks for your help, I upgraded my AD with the correct value (effectively
the old and wrong value was in Active directory). After having upgraded it,
now the error has disappeared.
However Im not still able to see my remote site computers in SMS, the sms
client is installed but these computers are not reporting as expected.
Taking a look at ccmexec.log of one of the clients I noticed the following:
I still get some errors related to the -gelso- problem instead of gelos:
<![LOG[Initializing queue
'direct_sntsrvr3.gelso.inet_mp_locationmanager'...]LOG]!><time="11:37:40.436+-120"
date="05-20-2008" component="CcmExec" context="" type="1" thread="1584"
file="messagequeue_base.cpp:188">
<![LOG[Queue 'direct_sntsrvr3.gelso.inet_mp_locationmanager' initialized
with 0 messages.]LOG]!><time="11:37:40.436+-120" date="05-20-2008"
component="CcmExec" context="" type="1" thread="1584"
file="messagequeue_base.cpp:205">
<![LOG[Initialized queue processor
'direct_sntsrvr3.gelso.inet_mp_locationmanager'
Enabled=true Concurrency=1]LOG]!><time="11:37:40.436+-120"
date="05-20-2008" component="CcmExec" context="" type="1" thread="1584"
file="messagequeueproc_base.cpp:240">
And I also has noticed another error:
<![LOG[Request failed: 501 Not Implemented]LOG]!><time="12:10:20.514+-120"
date="05-20-2008" component="CcmExec" context="" type="3" thread="188"
file="ccmhttpmessage.cpp:1863">
In my AD there is no any reference to direct_sntsrvr3.gelso.inet... so I
dont know where to start looking at. The second error is also strange.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance for your help!
