Hi

I'm trying to delete a program that I do not need anymore. BUT when I try to
delete the program ("Per-system attended"), the "Delete Program Wizard"
reports that several advertisements will be deleted. These advertisements do
NOT use this program or package, however the program name is the same
"Per-system attended".

Could this be the result of corrupted data in SQL or some error? I don't
dare to delete this program/package when the wizard reports that the other
advertisements use this program.

What do I do?

Regards,
Ragnar

Interesting discovery, looks like a developer was too lazy to code the
SELECT statement to include the selected package name in addition to the
program name and advertisements for all packages with this program are
returned. Which is very annoying since every Microsoft .msi package
(probably like the one you are using) has the same names for the six
programs. Anyway, I tested it with two freshly created packages from MSI
definition and after confirming deletion the advertisement for the
right package was deleted so you can disregard the warning. I'll check
with other guys at Microsoft for their comments.

We know about this problem and I will have to agree that it is bad enough to
give you a scar but actually it will only delete the correct program and its
corresponding advertisement. Therefore, you can ignore that list.

Thanks for the confirmation, Shehzad. Are there plans to address this
issue when SP1 launches (in beta the behaviour is still the same)?

At this point behavior is still same and we don't plan to fix it because it
doesn't cause bad bevahior (although you can argue that Customer confusion
is also a bad behavior - and I will have to agree on that!).

However, you can call PSS and ask for a hotfix for this issue.
