Hi guys,

I've not had the chance to investigate further yet, but I thought I'd
throw this question out to see if anyone else has experienced problems.

Some machines have their CCMEXEC running at 100% of CPU utilisation
just after login. The only file inventory at the moment is the usual
.exe scan and hardware scan. We are not distributing software yet,
although the client agent is on.

So far, it seems that Mcafee scans every .exe CCMEXEC accesses...
anyone have any ideas on what is really happening or suggestions on how
I can correct this problem?

TIA,
GaryU

Hello Gary,
You should exclude a few directories from MacFee scan.
%windir%\system32\ccm
%windir%\system32\VPcache\<Scan Package ID>
%windir%\system32\wbem

For issues with the Automatic Update Jet Database:
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\datastore.edb
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\edb*.log
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\edb.chk
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\tmp.edb
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\res*.log

The following KB articles reference issues with AV programs and SMS:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327453/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900638/en-us

Also on your servers you should excude SMS\Inboxes and SMS_CCM

You may be seeing your AV software stuck in trying to scan the wsusscan.cab file, trying to uncompress it.

Regards,
Anthony

Hi Anthony, that's great, and thanks for the quick reply.

This sounds like the thing i'm after. I'll give it a go.

Cheers,
Gary
