When hooked up via USB, Exchange ActiveSync on the device talks directly to
the server, which needs to be set up to support this. It bypasses ActiveSync
on the desktop and just connects over the network.
All that was to get to the point that ActiveSync on the desktop does not
support syncing via a WiFi connection. Exchange ActiveSync set up on the
device does, though of course only those things Exchange supports and you
have selected to sync that way.
If you are in fact using Exchange ActiveSync, it would appear that the
device cannot find the server you have designated, over WiFi. That would be
a network problem of some sort possibly in the way your Access Point is set
up. If you are actually using Exchange ActiveSync, server name and your
credentials set up on the device under ActiveSync, post back with a little
more about how the network is set up. If you have a network administrator,
get him involved.
