Hello,
I need to modify the existing behavior of "select key" on IM1Address
field in existing Contact in Contacts(Phone Book) application in
Windows Mobile.
The existing behavior when "enter" or "select" key is pressed (while
in view mode) is to open the contact in edit mode with focus on the
IM1Address text-edit box. I need to change this to open another
application (possibly an IM application installed in the phone).

Step-by-step procedure:
1. Open PhoneBook/ Contacts application in WM phone
2. Navigate to the desired contact. Click Enter.
3. The contact is displayed in View Mode.
4. Scroll down to IM1 field.
5. Press "Select" or "Enter" key

Existing behavior:
The contact is opened in Edit mode with the focus in the Text Edit box
of IM1 Address.

Desired behavior:
A new application should be launched.

I checked out the list of "Notification Window Messages" and other
POOM APIs, but couldn't get what I wanted. Can anyone please help me
on this?

You can't change the behaviour of this dialog. If you setup your own custom
source for contact items you can provide your own view dialog which replaces
the default one. This would be a lot of work to try and match the current
functionality and add this feature. You would probably find it easier to
implement a context menu extension for contact items.
