What is the easiest way to put a simple chart in aa WSS Site?
And please, not the PivotView....;-)

But you asked for the simplest way :)

What's wrong with the Pivot Chart web part to your mind. I find it
incredibly useful together with live db extracts.

I have an entire application built solely from Pivot Charts plus a single
Link List.

It grabs info from a Helpdesk database and then allows you to go down the
structure of Level 1; then Level 2; Level 3 etc.

It probably takes me less than a minute to create the (Pie chart) of Level-3
information with a Level-1 value and a Level-2 value specified.

[Open database; grab Level-1 move above the chart area; grab Level-2 move
above the chart area (don't have to be accurate); grab Level-3 move to the
chart area; click on the chart area; specify menu; click on both the icons
for the content (to give right-hand list and upright bars in the content
part); amend to Pie; specify which Level-1; specify which Level-2. Remove
Taskbar. Save. Finished]

The minute time for this is when you are doing these things for the nth time
of course.

**Problems with Pivot Chart ** You can't leave it to the user to select
because that will freeze selections there. So you can only create your
values in advance - hence you create different web pages for different
combinations of values.

(I think I blogged a couple of times on this both the problems and what I
did in the end)

I created charts in Frontpage (ok, they are the same as PivotCharts) but as
a web part how do you get rid of the selection boxes. When I right click the
webpart I can deselect the Drop Zones (Command and Options, Show/Hide) and
they go away. But when I refresh, they are back again. And THATS what I
don't like to the webpart... I need to open it in FrontPage to hide
them...Or is there another way?

My problem in answering (or rather not) this is that I *want* to see the
drop-down selection boxes as only then will the users believe that this in
fact the selection they wanted.

So, I'm happy and someone else will have to come in to this thread with info
if there IS a way to get rid of them.
