Sharepoint Services 3.0 Permissions Issue

I have an issue that has cropped up on one of my sharepoint sites this week.

SPS3.0 running on WS08

I have 4 sites hosted, 1 site and it's subsites are experiencing the
following issue:

My account (admin) is operations master on the site.
I am also given explicit permissions on my subsites as a full control user

All of a sudden my contributing and full control users can no longer
modify/create/post on the particular site that is affected. I've tried
creating a new SP admin account, making it an operatinos master, giving it
explicit full control rights and have the same problem.

This issue has arrisen seemingly out of nowhere and does not coinside with
any changes in infrastructure. There are no warnings or problems floating in
the event logs.

I'm quite stuck on how to proceed. Permissions wise, everything looks
great, and is setup just like it's always been to work fine. My other sites
(same server), have permissions setup in an identical manner and work fine.

Any suggestions?

Ted,

Any issues with the database? Is there a full drive somewhere and the
system can't write more data to the system? How about trying an active
directory group instead of individual users?

Haven't had this happen before, but I thought of some off the wall things....

Thanks for the reply.

Everything I can see suggests the database is healthy. I see no issues, I
can access all the content properly, and WSS is otherwise a happy program.

Disk space is not the issue, there is plenty of headroom left on the server.

I've created new users, used AD groups, removed and readded users, and still
have no had progress on this issue.

Thank you for your suggestions but I'm afraid I'm still stuck here.

Ted,

I just realized that a problem I'm having with two active directory groups
might be related to your issue. I have an issue open with MS, and I'll let
you know what I find out.

Ted,

What Microsoft had me do was remove the problematic users/active directory
groups and then re-add them in the SharePoint security page for the site. It
worked for us. I'm asking Microsoft for a Root Cause, but I wanted to let you
know that this solved our problem.
