Hello everyone,

Currently I have a setup of a small farm, a simple 2007 Sharepoint
Portal server along attached to a server running SQL Server 2008 both
on Windows Server 2008 x64 machines. Recently, as of last week I had
them both go down and I was trying to restore the entire database and
both servers from backup. After much much trying I finally got them
both back up and talking to each other, looks like all my data is
still there but the Sharepoint site is painfully slow to the point
where it's practically unusable, sometimes you have to click on a link
7 trys before it actually heads to there then the page loads and it
seriously takes 2-3 minutes to come up, was never that slow before.
I'll tell you a little bit about my backup/restore process, we use
Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 and I backed up both the SQL full server
along with the database and the entire MOSS server. To restore, since
the machines are on virtual machines I simply stood them both backup,
added the backup agent and restored, then ran an iisreset /noforce. I
also ended up rebooting both servers afterwards to see if that would
help. Does this sound like a corrupt database issue or anything
remotely familiar to anyone, not sure what to look at now, can anyone
shed some light?

Thanks

I have a couple of questions here.

1. After restoring the databases, were you able to open up sharepoint
central admin without any dealy.
2. Does this issue happen on all the web applications, or just one of
them.
3. If it is happening to all the webapplicaitons, does it affect the
top level site only or the issue is faced even on subsites.
4. Did you try creating a new web application and see whether that web
application opened up fine without any delay.
5. What kind of errors do you get when you face this problem, e.g.
Page cannot be displayed, unknown error, etc...
6. Do you get any errors (event ID) on the sharepoint server as well
as the SQL server.

Once we have the above questions answered, we can narrow down to the
issue. Otherwise its very difficult to pinpoint the root cause why its
taking long to load a site.
