THE NEW SHAREPOINT/WSS V3 (AKA SharePointV3 or VSSV3 or Office 12)
SOUNDS VERY EXCITING. It features WIKIs, Blogs, potential versioning
of everything, and with diff (difference) storage and display -- indeed
the list of new features is staggering: see
www.sharepointblogs.com/dustin/archive/2005/09/14/3503.aspx for one
list.

BUT DOES IT HAVE WYSIWYG WIKI-EDITING VIA A WEB BROWSER ONLY? (not
require FrontPage for this, which does great WYSIWYG editing but must
be bought & installed).

Most Wikis force you to learn a special text based language for editing
(though Google for ``WYSIWYG Wiki'' finds increasing exceptions, as
JotSpot)) But WYSIWYG-editing seems critical feature for ordinary
users who
- don't want to learn a new language, nor constantly preview to see
the results
- and may also want to copy & paste-in existing formatted text (from
their web browser, or from any other application)
Hotmail & Yahoo mail has a WYSIWYG web editor; and so does Sharepoint
V2's Web Content Part. But will Sharepoint V3 WIKI have this?

And, most generally, where might I see screenshots or a demo of the new
Sharepoint V3 WIKIs? It's supposed to be the big new feature, and I'd
love to see it.

Thanks for your help & info, -Mike Parker, www.Cytex.com

Unless the information has been publically posted by Microsoft it is under
NDA and cannot be discussed here. Believe me, it is as hard for the people
under the NDA as it is for those who aren't ;)

Lets speculate...
If the v3 wiki feature is based on a list then the standard lists.asmx web
service could be used to create/edit from an application such as InfoPath.

Just curious ... who is bound by this NDA? I have used the new Wiki.

Right now it should be anyone who has access to the code, at least as far as
I know.

The original poster makes an interesting point though, (whether
intended or not.)

Not a lot of details have been released publicly about the Wiki web
part or how it's going to be stored. We have to assume that it's a
list, because everything else is. I would highly doubt that you have
to use Frontpage or special tags to format Wiki text, because the
current version of SPS allows you to do just that from within the
browser when you create a "Basic Page".

What I am curious about is whether the Wiki will maintain smart links
to other Wiki entries (as in a "see also," Wikipedia-style.)
