I installed Norton Anti-Virus 6 on a Windows XP PC.
After the initial install it said successfully installed.
After re booting the configuration and registration window comes up.
I click the NEXT button. I get a hour glass for a few seconds and that
is all.
I tried this three times un installing between each.

The NEXT window background is white which is unusual.

Thanks

Jack

In such situations you need to contact product vendor.

Try; symantec.support.winnt.nortonantivirus.general

However I get the impression that NAV 6 is OLD. Too old.

I suggest you go with something better. Kaspersky and NOD32 in that order have a much
better track record and NOD32 is lighter on resources.

I can also suggest the following...

AVAST -
http://www.avast.com/i_idt_1016.html - FREE

CA eTrust -
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.cfm - FREE for one year.
{ Free offer extended indefinitely }

Nod32 is not so gui friendly, but it has more advanced heuristic mechanism
then norton. Btw, kaspersky does not have virtual machine at all, he finds
viruses using signatures only.

Yes ,Kaspersky doesn't have heuristic but they update their definitions 24
times for 24 hours so this really minimizes the risk of new fast spread
malware.
However ,I DO think that protection agains unknown threats in required in
every security software because Kaspersky might update 24 times a day but if
a new malware appears which is specially designed for not many people or
things like that ,Kaspersky will ^die^.

For this is the power:

They cannot react fast, at least because they can't identify ALL software
that is produced by some "bad people". Heuristic is some kind of AI that
makes search of viruses more efficient, and from this point of view,
Kaspersky is far from Nod32.

Also not sure, their latest virtual machine could not unpack simple binary
that passed control via SEH entries.
