Error code 643 when installing KB954430 and I screwed up

Useless to say none of them work out.
Hello,
I was having a problem with update KB954430. It always required to be
install even though the process was successful each time.
I first tried to look on the internet for a solution and I followed the
advice given by one site. (Vistaheads.com)
The advice goes as follows:

Step 1: Download Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp utility

1. Visit the following link to download the utility:

2. Save the file to the computer.
3. Install this tool on the computer.
Step 2: Remove MSXML software

1. Click Start -> (All) Programs -> Windows Installer Clean Up.
2. See if you can find MSXML software. If so, remove them.
3. Restart the computer.
After that, please try to reinstall MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 and MSXML 4.0
SP2 Security Update KB925672 and KB927978.
Step 3: Reinstall MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2

1. Please download MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 and the related updates from the
following links and save them to the Desktop.

2. When the File Download window appears, please click the Save button, and
follow the directions to save them to the Desktop.
3. After downloading the MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 setup file and its updates
on to the Desktop, please double-click the files to manually install them one
by one.

I followed exactly the directions given by the site. I installed Windows
Install Clean Up, I then found three MSXML softwares and removed all three of
them. I then downloaded the two files, msxml.msi and msxml4-KB936181-enu.exe
and installed them in the order previously cited.
However, after completing all this when I tried to install the update
windows update was recommending and I got error Code 643. I couldn't even
install successfully the update anymore. I looked for a manual version of the
update, found it and dowloaded the file msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe.
When a manually run the program, this is the error message that pops up:
"Could not open key:
UNKNOWN\Components\7A17F1B46C057B443ADA6B3C75B48B69\DDA39468D428E8B4DB27C8D5DC5CA217.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support
personne."
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium in 64 bit on a Aspire 6930 Acer
laptop.
And running out of ideas on how to fix this.

To perform the steps manually, you may try the below mentioned two methods
to resolve this issue, use method one first and if it did not resolve your
issue, proceed to method 2.
Method 1: Register the Windows Update files
1. Click Start and then type notepad in the Start Search box.
2. Click Notepad in the Programs list.
3. Copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened
Notepad window:
REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUCLTUX.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUWEBV.DLL /S
REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL /S
REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL /S
4. In Notepad, on the File menu, click Save As.
5. In the Save as type list, click All Files.
6. In the File name box, type register.bat.
7. Save the Register.bat file to your desktop.
8. Right-click the Register.bat file, and then click Run as
administrator. Collapse this image Expand this image if you are prompted for
an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or click
Continue.
9. Try to install updates again.
Method 2: Download and install the Windows Update agent.

Hi,
Thanks for your time. Unfortunately the solutions you suggested didn't fix
my problem.
This is what I have done:
I downloaded Fixit, ran it in default mode. Then I restarted my PC and tried
installing the update again and I got the same error.
I then tried to run it in aggressive mode, restarted the PC, tried
installing the update again and I got the same error.
After I tried Method 1, created the .bat file, ran it as admin and tried
installing updates. I got the same error.
Finally, I went the give website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/949104, then went to this site
http://update.microsoft.com, tried to install the update and got the same
error. I then downloaded windowsupdateagent30-x64.exe package, installed it
and tried installing the update again and got the same error.
Please tell me if I have done something wrong or suggest other ways of
fixing what I have done.
I really appreciate your help and I really want to fix this rightly.

KB954430 is a security update so you can get FREE support direct from MS.
Since its a Security Update you can get a Free Support
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/resources/support.aspx
Also since it has already installed you could Right Click on it and HIDE the
update.

Go for the free support however check in Windows Updates to see if it
previously installed and also the
KB article to see if you even need it (and there is a good change you do not
and that is why it will not
install - this does happen).

Click Start, in search bar type in regedit then enter.
On the regedit window, click edit then find.
In "find what:" insert DDA39468D428E8B4DB27C8D5DC5CA217.
When you have found the folder right click it and click Permissions...
In security tab click "Advanced" (Ignore all alerts), then go to owner tab
and select your name, if you cannot find your name, click the "Other users or
groups..." button and enter your name, then click the "check names" button
and "ok". Press ok again and return to the security tab in permissions and
click the "Add..." button. Type in administrators, then "Check Names" button
again, press "ok". In the Permissions for Administrators table, select Full
Control (Click the administrators name).
After that download and launch KBKB954430:

Haven't a clue what you intended to impugn with your statement.
Microsoft has NNTP servers. They also use a webnews gateway to Usenet
through their NNTP servers. The webnews interface is what Microsoft
pretends are their forums despite that it is just a gateway to Usenet.

Right, sure you did... so you must have forgotten huh... Alzheimer's
maybe..
It makes all the difference to these groups and users of it and other
Microsoft offered communities. Usenet didn't create these groups, and
doesn't do anything but what it always has, just pulls, transmits, and
offers them. Then sends what it offers from various places back to
Microsoft.

Awe,, do we need to....
I just get tired of Usenetters forgetting they use some portal or news
service [unless running their own personal NNTP server AND
access/partake in these groups] to access these groups. Somehow, over
the course of time Usenet took on a supposed life it never had and never
was. Direct access *IS* via Microsoft's own site..
