I have publisher 97 deluxe version and have not been able to retrieve any
of the clip art off of the CD since installing the program on my new Pentium
200 MMX computer that also has Microsoft Office 97 on it. Is there some
type of conflict here? When I try to bring in a clip art image I get an
error message telling me that "this clipart collection is not designed for
use with this program". What gives? Anyone have any clues? I've even
tried removing the entire program and re-installing it and I still get the
same error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My problem was solved with the help of Dan Spencer. He suggested renaming
the artgalry.cag file to artgalry.old and then trying it again in the
program. He said that it would create a new artgalry.cag file, which it did
and now it works just fine. Thanks for your help, Dan! (It was the
artgalry.cag file in the windows/system folder that was the problem - not
the one in the common files/shared/artgalry file).

Try this. Insert your Publisher CD and find the artgalry.exe file on it.
Double click on the file. If you receive an error message, your Registry
is corrupted and you should call MS Tech Support, the number is on the
inside of the Publisher Companion.

If it does work, the artgalry.exe file is probably corrupt on your hard
drive. Do this:-

a. Copy the contents of the Shared\Artgalry folder (except the Artgalry.cag
file, which is already on your hard disk), to the
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Artgalry folder.

b. Double-click the Artgalry.exe file to register the copy on your hard
disk.

Let me know if this does not work.

Good luck,

There should not even be a CAG file anywhere near the Windows/System
folder.

The CAG file can just grow and grow, and I have seen it up to 6Mb in size.
If it ever gets over 120kb just delete it and it will automatically
recreate it the correct size.

Try reinstalling either Office 97 or Publisher 97 and see if it works
now.
If not delete the .CAG-files and try again.
