Hello I used publisher 2003 to create a business card and I used a downloaded
clip art image for my logo. Now I am creating a website on godaddy.com and I
can't seem to up load the image to the new website beacuse it isn't a jpeg
file. I attempted to save the image in paint but when the image was moved to
paint it changed to all black. At this time I am interested in using the
image on my website and business cards but I need it to be in a jpeg file. Is
there anyway to do this? Also I noticed that publisher 2003 offers a website
building tool. Is there anyway to download these website templates to my
godaddy.com new website file. I would love to have a matching business card
and website.
Thanks for you time,
Melissa

Where did you get the original clipart?

In Publisher, right-click the image, click save as picture, there are options to
save it as .jpg with various resolutions.

Mary I followed your instruction and it worked until I put it on my website
on godaddy.com where it came up distorted. Any other recommendations?

I assume you're saying it is Microsoft's clipart? There are several ways of
saving pictures as separate files. I've inserted them in Word documents and
then saved that as an .html file. That creates a folder with all of the
graphics as .gifs. Does godaddy require everything to be a .jpg or can you
use other graphic formats?

What is the URL?
Download www.irfanview.com open the image, save as.
Get the plug-ins too. This is a free program.
I have no other suggestions. You are converting a vector into a bitmap, usually
this isn't a problem, especially on a web page. What resolution did you specify
when you saved as a picture?

Use Irfanview as per Mary's post, to resize, resample and optimize your logo
for the web. There are a couple articles on this page about preparing images
for your website here:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/search.aspx?q=images&p=1

You might also use Irfanview and the Save As to convert your logo to a GIF,
which will probably look better and be faster loading than your JPG.

If you are using Pub 2003 to produce your webpage, it sometimes makes copies
of your embedded images with the goal of rendering the best image depending
on the browser used. Unfortunately these alternative PNG, GIF or JPG images
can be, and frequently are "distorted" as you describe. If you want the best
rendering of your logo after you optimize it, then you should import it into
your webpage...especially if you are using it on each page. Reference "How
To Link Images In Your Publisher Web Page":
