Different color format for set of activities

Hi,
I am working on a Power plant schedule wherein i have around 1000
activities. As per clients requirement i need to divide them in three
segments have different color for the bars.
the only option i could find is select individual bar and change the color
scheme
Please tell me if there is a faster way to do this???

First of all, it is a good idea to not re-format the original Gantt Chart.
Everything about formatting is contaned in the particular View.
You can copy the original Gantt Chart View and then splash any fonts and
colours you like in the copy and it will leave the original Gantt Chart View
as it is/was.
View, More Views, select the Gantt Chart, Copy, and give it a name such as
"AA Gantt Chart 1".
Check View and make sure you are in that View.
Then Format, Bar Styles.

Before that, insert 3 Flag fields.
Put Yes in Flag1 for yellow bars
Put Yes in Flag2 for pink bars
Put Yes in Flag3 for maroon bars

Then, Format, Bar Styles.
Make new rows and use Normal,Flag1 and Normal, Flag2 etc as the condition
for that style.
Delete the rows you don't need, the Normal task bars.
