Music and slides question

I am working on a slide show on PowerPoint XP and I have a peculiar question
with the background music which is part of the slide show.
The way the show is set up is that I have the music start first, then the
images and at the end of the show, the last image will fade slowly and I was
wondering if it is possible to have the music do the same instead of just
stop. It is not imperative but would be nice if I were able to time them.

First off, timings in PowerPoint are not one of its strong points. If you know the time for your piece of music, you could set your total slide transitions for the same time frame and hope for the best. with a little juggling, you can come pretty close.
