Thanks

I used TomTom home for this purpose, without any problem:

Tomtom Navigator 6.032 on my HTC TyTN II puts the voice files in Program
Files/Navigator/Voices with names that start with data. I did have them
installed on my storage card initially but put them into internal storage
when I started experiencing voices cutting out at times (although this still
hasn't totally fixed the problem). You can either download and install new
voices using Tomtom Navigator 6s built in Tomtom Plus Services -> Download
Voice (after creating a Tomtom Plus account) or using Tomtom Home as
mentioned in the other response. The good thing about using Tomtom Home is
that you have the files kept on your PC as well so if you have to hard
reset, its easier/quicker to put Tomtom back to how you like it.

Which one(s) does it find and does this cross reference to the Voice(s)
Tomtom shows as being available? If you're going to use Tomtom Home or even
Tomtom Navigatorss own ability to directly download and install voices, you
won't need to concern yourself with where they're stored (other than
choosing between internal or storage card memory).

The only voices that aren't greyed out are 'Jane', 'John Cleese' and
'Joanna Lummley'. Pretty sure I added the latter two myself at some
stage! But darned if I can find where they are stored. I figured if I
could find the folder in which those are stored I could add more voices
there and it would be picked up.
Grateful for any advise.
Have just installed TomTom Home as suggested previously and am about to
give it a try.

Since two of those are voices that need to be paid for (and I have none of
those) perhaps they're stored in a different location or encrypted in some
way, after all it would make sense to do so so they cant be stolen and
shared around. I think that installing Tomtom Home should sort it out and
it'll certainly let you add the voices you require into the locations you
want (internal memory or memory card). You can even buy more voices if thats
what you want.

Thanks again. Will persevere.

Tomtom Home wont let you decide specifically which folder to put the voice
files in, thats an aspect of the programs design but whether you choose
internal or storage card memory to save the voices to, it should still get
that right. Since Tomtom will have a record of any voice file/map purchases
you have made, perhaps it's worth contacting them with details of when you
bought them and they may allow you to redownload them (and this time you can
back them up so they're not as likely to get lost on your PC HDD).
