The Q1U has a GPS app called NavigatoR 2.0 but needs a receiver as the Q1U-V
doesn't have a GPS chip.
Can I connect my Tilt via USB and have it's GPS as the receiver?

Try this (software GpsGate) - http://www.franson.com
I would have more confidence that you could do something over BT, using a
serial profile, and GPSGate to send the GPS signal to the PPC port and
having the UMPC pick the stream off it's end.

Tried it and GpsGate sent the signal via active synch to the UMPC but
Navigon couldn't see it.
Had Navigon try to automatically find the connection and it didn't. One time
it said it did but never got any signal.
I may just buy a GPS receiver for the UMPC.

GpsGate saw the active synch connection and supposedly sent the signal
to the UMPC but, Navigon never saw it. One time Navigon said it configured a
port but it never worked, just kept getting a "There is no GPS device
connected" error by Navigon even though it said it configured it once.. This
is getting a tad techy for me and might just go buy a GPS receiver that
plugs into the UMPC.

Assuming that the umpc has bt, _strongly_ suggest you look for a
bluetooth gps receiver as that will not only be a much easier package to
manage and place the receiver for best signal, it can then be used with
any bt computer or winmobile device.
Additionally, if you shop for one (they should start under $70) consider
paying a few bucks more for a "bluetooth gps logger" which essentially
functions as a displayless stand alone receiver by continually logging
it's position (track) which can then be downloaded to a pc at a later time.

I appreciate your help with this but now it seems it has become a
moot point. I bought the UMPC specifically for the tablet function to take
notes on Word at school and work but, being left handed the physical
configuration of the device precludes me from using it effectively. (I keep
running over the mouse and it messes up my typing. I tried switching screen
orientation but then my hand brushes against touch menu buttons on the top
of the unit. It isn't going to work out for me at this time and since I
bought it from Dell and they have a 21 day satisfaction guarantee, I'm
returning it and sticking with good ole pen and paper at school and work.
Thanks again for trying to help.

Am I the only one noticing the irony that no one here in the PPC NG has
asked why you don't just use your Tilt PPC phone for handwriting entry in
Word? ;-)

I am off topic here, but if the need comes up again for a full size tablet
there are several quality used tablets that may fit the bill and can be
picked up very economically (since tablet performance has not changed that
much in a few years it works). For example, check ebay for TC1100 - a true
tablet, although the keyboard can attach. There are others as well.
Have to say, though, the UMPCs are pretty slick.
.02, FWIW.
That may be the ticket.
