Email folder sync errors - 85010017 and 8600209

I like to synchronize a couple email folders from Outlook beyond my Inbox
(they are actually RSS feeds that get dumped into Outlook via Newsgator). I
can usually get them to sync up the first time and maybe one or two times
more, but then I get one of the two following errors from Activesync (4.1 and
4.2 beta):

Critical Error Suppoort code 86000209
or
server time out error 85010017

It will go back to syncing with the Inbox after the error (and a soft
reset), but the other folder data is lost.

I have a Cingular 8125 btw (WM 5), runing locally (no exchange server). I
have upgraded to ActiveSync 4.2 beta in the hopes it would solve the poblem,
but it hasn't. The annoying part is I used to be able to do it with no
problem with 3.8 and old PDA.

I did find a reference to it in this group but all the threads just trailed
off. Anybody else out there have this problem? Any workarounds?

I am getting the same errors and nothing I have found in troubleshooting
anywhere has solved the problem. I just added a post to a previous thread
which seemed to have a Microsoft engineer on it. I hope they will take a more
serious look at the problem.

Similar for me too. I posted this earlier this evening in another post. Here
is part of my other post copied and pasted that details my similar problem:

I've run ScanPST along with Detect and Repair on my Outlook 2003 probably
hundreds of times. I even hunted down and renamed MAPI32.dll but still seem
to have 2 of them with one being in C:\WINDOWS\system32 and another in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033. Meanwhile there is another
similar mapi name of MSmapi.dll (note the additional "MS") found in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 that I'm afraid to mess
with. (Once I did and I had to use system restore to fix the problems.)

Here's the problem: I sync up and get an Attention Required message on my
T-Mobile WM5 MDA and my desktop PC. I click "yes" on the PDA's message "A
problem was encountered, you will lose data on the next sync..." Active Sync
then proceeds to apparently sync up OK but it puts up the number of email
messages to be synced as if it is the first time it was syncing them. The
sync finishes and I check my email folders and find that all of the extra
email folders that were set to be synced are no longer synced. (I have about
20+ additional email folders within Outlook 2003 but this happens whether
it's only two or 10 email folders to be synced.)

I then go into the email options of Active Sync and check the additional
folders to be synced again. They then sync fine. I disconnect the device and
double check the email folders that have been selected for synchronization -
all fine still. I then hook the MDA back up to the PC via USB and get the
same "attention required" message and the ugly saga stars all over again -
click "yes" on the PDA to the message and lose all of the additional email
folder synchronizations beyond the inbox folder.

Meanwhile in between this I run ScanPST and sometimes get an indication that
errors need to be fixed and sometimes not.

This has been a complete drag that I had nearly been resigned to accept.
However tonight when I lost an important reply that had been composed on my
WM 5 MDA's Outlook Inbox which had been was waiting in the MDA's Outlook
Outbox but was comletely wiped out by this recurring problem during syncing I
decided to post here to try to get to the bottom of this.

I finally called Microsoft about the problem. Dished out $35. Can't
believe how simple the answer was. My profile in *Outlook* had become
corrupted.

We deleted the partnership between Activesync and my PDA.

We backed up my current profile (File-Export), created I new profile for
Outlook (Control Panel - Mail in classic view), imported data from backup
(File -import).

Then we created a new partnership between activesync and my PDA.

Voila.

Hi,
Thanks to this tip. I deleted the partnership between my PDA and
recreated it, and then the issue was resolved without the need to recreate my
Outlook profile.

Thanks for the tip!...you saved me about 72 additional hours of work trying
to troubleshoot this simple -but annoying- error. By deleting the
partnership, everything gets back to normal...no need to backup
