ActiveSync refuses to sync with my computer and always give me the same
error message (see title).

I have read this forum, installed 4.1 after uninstalled 4.0, remove all the
registry information, repairing Outlook, renaming my profile, etc... I even
hard-reset my PPC.

It still does not work. Anybody has an idea.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks,

Etienne

ActiveSync 4.1 is not a released version (it was leaked by somone) and
is beta software - revert to ActiveSync 4.0.

OK, I revert to 4.0 again and it still does not work. Any solution?

Etienne

Delete your current partnership and set it up again with outlook open -
it worked for me

Are you getting this error during your first sync with outlook (while
outlook is in offline mode?)

85010014 is a server error,

If deleting the partnership does not work try:
Connect your outlook to the server in online mode then sync then put
your outlook back into offline mode

My problem was with the desktop. but appararently it would be about the same
for the server.
It seems that this guy http://www.sb.com.au/jasjar/activesync_4_0.html had
solved this problem. I tried it myself and it worked for me ! - thank you
sir !!!!

The bottom line is reinstalling Outlook 2003, but with this procedure you
don't even need the CD (which in my case was in the office) !!! - (I was
afraid at first..., removing outlook 2003 ?????, no WAY !!!!, but.. it
worked eventually with no effort !)

1. run Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003
2. chose to "modify" by adding or removing components.
3. uncheck Outlook and update it to remove Outlook from the Office 2003
suite (YES ... YES ...)
4. The ....
5. return to this option and re-check Outlook to add it back to the Office
2003 Suite (it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom in our case)
6. Reboot and connect Activesync again...
7. you are up and running !!!!

Good luck !!!!

In
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windowsmobile/howto/windowsmobile5/install/default.aspx ,
Microsoft says: « Download ActiveSync 4.0 Developer Preview »,
which on this NG alone has been confirmed in the last months by
several MS people, presenting it as a Beta.

In
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync41.mspx
(apparently 18 Nov 2005), Microsoft says: « ActiveSync 4.1 is
the latest sync software release for Windows Mobile 5.0
devices »

After trying it seems AS3.8 is the less flawed, so far and at
least for WM2003FE (see in this
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync
NG my « AS4.1 not good, keep AS3.8 »,
news://msnews.microsoft.com/uuxa5QY%23FHA...@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl ).

ActiveSync 4.1 is out of beta - but only for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. If
you are using a Windows Mobile 2003 device it's better to use the
ActveSync.8.
