My Dell Axim X5 w/ Windows Mobile 2003 and ActiveSync 3.7.1 works fine UNTIL
I try to install Vindigo. Once I install Vindigo 2.0, the following
happens:
The next time ActiveSync tries to sync, Vindigo reports "Updating
vindigo.exe 0 of 1" and then "updating vindigo 1 of 1620" and then "lost
connection."
Since AvantGo is the next (and last) item on the list, it tries to sync,
getting the message "Device components missing or out of date."
When I try to get ActiveSync to resolve by clicking "resolve items..."), it
repeats the two steps above and then the ActiveSync icon turns yellow, and
it no longer responds when I click "resolve items."
AvantGo and Vindigo both appear as "unresolved" items, and mysteriously, all
of a sudden, Microsoft Money shows up as "unsynchronized," even though it
was synchronized BEFORE any of this took place.
Also, even if I remove Vindigo, AvantGo no longer works, and ActiveSync
starts behaving strangely (i.e., in order to install ANYTHING new on my
computer, I have to go into Task Manager and end ActiveSync's two running
processes. Otherwise, the install program always hangs up).
I've repeated this several times, even after reformatting my hard drive AND
my mobile device.
My gut says this is an issue with Vindigo, especially since everything
worked fine (both AvantGo and Vindigo on the same device, without any
issues) prior to upgrading to Windows Mobile 2003 and ActiveSync 3.7.1.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Sean
Try reverting to ActiveSync 3.7 - there is a known problem with RAPI,
which is how ActiveSync addins communicate with the Pocket PC. See if
that helps.
