Subject: sync of files fails on ASUS636N
Hi,
my PDA is an ASUS 636N, Windows Mobile 5.0; PC is running WindowsXP
SP2. Both German versions.
I set syncronizaton for contacts and files. For Contacts it works fine.
But for files it fails. The file on the PDA is always overridden by the
file of the PC, the changes on the PDA are lost.
I used ActiveSync 4.2 and ActiveSync 4.5beta.
I tryed another PDA: HP iPAQ rz1710 running Windows Mobile 2003. With
the HP sync works!
Is there something wrong with my ASUS PDA or with Windows Mobile 5.0?
What can I do?

Thanks for help
Ender

Hi,

Are you modifying the file on both devices before sync?  If yes, have you
checked the ActiveSync rules about overwriting? Do the following to confirm:

1.  Open ActiveSync, connect your device.
2.  Click Tools -> Options
3.  Select the Computer Name (e.g. "Windows PC") and click Settings.

You should see options to set the conflict rule.  Note that a conflict would
occur only when the same item has been edited on both the device and the
computer before a sync (after the partnership is set).  For all other
instances, the most recent copy of information will be synchronized to
either device.

Hi Raj,

I've checked the ActiveSync rules and they say: PDA wins.
I only have problems with syncing files. Syncing contacts works in both
directions.
Only the pda files are again and again replaced by the desktop files.
I contacted ASUS-support, but they say it must be a software problem.

Regards,
Ender
