problem with neighbor discovery in Window XP
Hi, I encountered a strange problem. We installed a virtual adapter on a XP(SP3), and assigned a global IPv6 address and set default IPv6 route (::/0) to use this virtual interface. Now we try to do IPv6 neighbor discovery spoofing: capturing ICMPv6 neighbor solicitation message and send back neighbor advertisement message. After that, all IPv6 message... more »

ipv6 aware application development
Hi experts, I know this is a basic question but I can't seem to find a post that talks about this. I am trying to write a v6 aware application. If a hostname resolves to both a v4 and v6 address, how does my application know whether it should connect with v4 or v6? First of all the host may or may not have a v4 or v6 address (do... more »

any alternatives to PNRP to publish the name of an ipv6 host?
As i am greatly enjoying experimenting with IPv6 (in the transition period often with tunnel protocols), i often use IPv6 hosts that must be reachable from outside, e.g. for remote desktop purposes. The PNRP protocol is a good method of publishing a machine's name without DNS, in the form MyMachineName.pnrp.net... more »

DHCPv6 preferred lifetime vs valid lifetime
Hi all, running Windows 7 as client and ISC 4.1.1 as DHCPv6 server I run in a problem regarding the preferred lifetime. While Windows is running, renew of the IPv6 address works fine. However if I shutdown Windows and keep the system power off for the whole preferred lifetime range, Windows will not renew... more »

internet site for testing inbound ipv6 connectivity and PNRP
Currently i am looking for an internet site that can test my IN-BOUND IPv6 connectivity and if it can resolve my PNRP name. Within my own network everything works fine. Does anyone know of a good web site that can perform such a test (i.e. by typing in a given port number)? greetings Roland Schweiger... more »

Need help setting up Teredo for Windows 7?
I am trying to set up Terado on Windows 7. I need to tunnel IP6 over IPV4. IPV6 protocol is set up. But IPV6 DNS does not seem to be available and the client seems to be in the dormant state. I want to turn it on, but so far I have not been able to do this. My XP client works just fine! Thanks for your help.... more »

Send and receive multicast messages doesn't work with FF02::1
Hi, i tried to send and receive ipv6 multicast messages (.Net 2.0, C#) and use the "all nodes" address FF02::1. But my server app got no requests if i set up the socket like this: _listener = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetw orkV6, SocketType.Dgram, ProtocolType.Udp); _listener.SetSocketOption(Sock etOptionLevel.Socket,... more »
