Hi,

maybe not a easy question....
Is it possible to make custom designed photo strokes in photo stroke
painting? it would be great if that whas possible, i know that the files are
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Picture It!
2002\PiFiles\paint\brushes\phostrok\ , in png, bmp and txt files. it's to
bad that there are so little photo strokes.

Also, is it possible to move an object to an exact place? like X cm/inch to
left/right or like X cm/inch down/up from left/up margin?

Thanx,

Greetings,

Steve

Sounds like you need CorelDraw.

Steve,

How did you customize your own photo stroke effect?

Well, you have to make choices for this, take things you don't use or don't
like that mucht, change the name of the file with a number placed behind the
file name.

the files are in in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Picture It!
2002\PiFiles\paint\brushes\phostrok\ , in *.png, *.bmp.

lets say you want a photo stroke effect of your own file, like me.jpg.

open irfanview (www.irfanview.com if you didn't have it yet), open the file
me.jpg in it, choose file, save as, save as a png file and rename it to the
file of the photostroke that you don't use much, save it in the above folder
where the photostrokes are. Go back to irfanview, save thesame file again,
but now as a bmp file (with save as).

lets same you want to replace bamboo, then you replace bamboo.png and
bamboo.bmp to bamboo1.png and bamboo1.bmp, then save your own file as
bamboo.png and bamboo.bmp to that directory (it has to be thesame image).

I think you can also customize how the photostroke act if you draw if you
change the settings in the file bamboo.txt in that directory (do this at
your own responsibility, i didn't test this yet).

Open picture it,open a file, try to make a photostroke on it.... what do you
see in the photostrokes? a christmas gift from me :-).

Greetings,

Steve

Oh, and if you want it back like it came from the product, just delete the
new (selfmade) bamboo.png and bamboo.bmp, and replace bamboo1.bmp and *1.png
back to bamboo.bmp and *.png

Good luck Steve...you are on a slippery slope to file corruption.

I didn't have any problems so far, nice effects to with even pictures of the
familie ;-).

And if something goes wrong, i can always go back with renaming back the
original file.

but is it possible to place/move an object/picture/whatever to an exact
place on the page?

Greetings,

Steve

The only thing I know of is to select the component you wish to move and
nudge it with the arrow keys. A program like Corel Draw or Microsoft
Publisher would be more like what you're looking for. And don't kid yourself
about file corruption, you might corrupt your whole PIPP installation.

I think i know what i'm doing ;-)

I do have microsoft Publisher 2002 also but i don't like to switch to much
between other programs.
I gues i have to do the more precise things with publisher and leave the
photo work with picture it and import it in publisher.

And if i'm not going to sleep right now, it could be possible that i don't
know anymore what i'm doing ;-).

I hope you do know what you're doing :o)

I was just offering a friendly warning, Picture It can be a real bear of a
problem if it gets corrupted.
