Blocked senders has always worked fine for me, but it
refuses to block the latest goon I've added to the list.
Looking in my blocked senders list (which currently
has 82 entries), I see that OE has indeed added his
address (always the same in all his postings) to the list.
but his messages continue to be downloaded.
No error messages either.
Can anyone suggest why it fails to block him?

If you're sure the actual address is correct, it should block him, so you
have two choices. Recreate the Blocked Senders registry key, (it may be
corrupt), or use message rules. Much more effective and you can have
messages removed from the server so you never see them.

1.. Close OE and then In Regedit, navigate to this key:

|--HKEY_CURRENT_USER
|-----Identities
|--------{GUID}
|-----------Software
|--------------Microsoft
|-----------------Outlook Express
|--------------------5.0

where GUID is the Global Unique IDentifier for your Identity.

2.. Under that key, you will find the following sub-keys, among
others:

|-----------------------Block Senders
|-----------------------Rules
|-----------------------Signatures

Select the Block Senders Key and delete it. Blocked Senders will be empty,
but you can rebuild it now.

Many thanks for that very comprehensive help.
I've just discovered I needed to click on the 'Remove postings from current
downlosd' option.
When I did that it worked !
