OE free backup!

I have been having a lot of trouble with OE for while and I managed to us
the free backup programme to backup my emails, but how the devil do I
retrieve them, I have tried, but I always get a weird message which has
nothing to do with recovering the messages.

Which backup program did you use? Provide a link to its Website. Also, copy
and paste the "weird message" you get.

That program was taken offline in August, 2004, so you will need to provide
much more detail about how it is supposed to work, how you set it up, and
what exactly happens when you try to restore.

It's not a Microsoft program, so help may be limited.

What is written in red here is the program you are speaking about.

It depends upon what you are trying to do. OEQB (or OEBackup) save the dbx
files and the registry keys. If you want to just get messages from a single
dbx file, then you can manually import it (see
www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1). If you are trying to restore the entire
message store, then use File | Import | Messages and point to the backed up
folder of dbx files. Otherwise you can delete the subkeys under the
Identity key in the registry and merge the backed up registry keys and then
replace the message store with the backed up dbx files.

Sorry for the long wait to reply to this but I have come to the conclusion
that I am getting old, when I find myself going to sleep while I am reading
or watching the TV!

I'll follow you suggestion and will come back with the result, if I am still

Actually, a good backup/archival system would do away with that need. Then
whatever you need eventually ends up on your backup drive or if you're
pro-active enoiugh, on the periodic CD or DVD you put backups onto for
permanent storage. Then the need for an OE backup program goes away.

Do a search for .dbx to see if you can find the meissing messages. Includ
hidden filed and folders..
