Over in the MS Money NG, we are having constant problems with O98beta2 use.
Everyone who installs it has problems utilizing some or all INTERNET based
communication with financial institutions (banking, brokerage, etc.)
I also have another problem with my cursor disappearing over the taskbar....this
problem only occurs when i use the address bar to launch ie 4.01. If I just start
the explorer ICON and then insert the URL into the appropriate window, all is fine.
Still, I had to uninstall ie4.01 in order to make Money work again, and there are
numerous posts in our NG about this. The word from Microsoft is that there's
no problem.
Worst of all, there appear to be some hidden files from outlook 98 beta 2 lurking
about in my system file that prohibit a clean reinstalltion of ie4.01, forcing me
to retrograde to ie3.02.
Anyone have any wisdom to share? Microsoft appears to be fresh out.

I am sure this is directed at me...please keep in mind that I am a
volunteer, not an employee of Microsoft. I give you the information that I
am able to get from the Money Team.
I am aware that this is a problem. As I posted earlier in this thread,
Outlook98 Beta 2 has been proven to cause problems with Money98. Microsoft
is researching this issue and the Money team is working with the Outlook
team to resolve this issue. It is the Outlook Team's responsibility to make
sure that their product is compatible with the many other Microsoft
products, as well as third party apps.
I am a beta site for Windows 98. I had a compatibility problem with Money 97
early in the beta. It was the Windows 98 team's responsibility to fix the
problem, which they did in an updated beta. I have had no issues between
Windows 98 and Money 98 thanks to the two development teams involved. This
is precisely how the bugs and compatibility issues get ironed out.

Check the version of your schannel.dll file. This is located in the
Windows\System directory. If it reads version 4.00 PCT / SSL Security
Provider (US and Canada Use Only) then you've got the 128 bit encryption. If
it's anything else, then you need to apply the update.

My personal feeling is I take on the risks of using new software in exchange
for whatever benefits I receive from the early use of the software, and any
personal satisfaction I may get if a feature idea might get into the
product. Part of what I am usually willing to do to help is make as clear
and detailed issue report as possible. I hope you can see that the combined
the lack of acknowledgement of an issue combined with no one asking for more
detailed information can give the appearance non-action. It is clear that
the Money team does pay attention to issues you bring forward and it was my
hope that if we could convince you that there was an issue you would be able
to get some action.
I did not intend to offend, and I do appreciate the effort and the clarity
you bring to this forum.

Isn't the primary problem that it's beta software and the reason it's released is to uncover issues like this?
