I have Outlook 97. There is a message in the outbox that cannot be
deleted or opened. The program responds with an error when I do :
'Can't open this item. The MAPI spooler has already begun transmitting
this message.'
I tried to remove delivery services (internet mail in this case) and
then reinstall it but that doesnt work. I tried to add a new profile
but I cant even close Outlook. I did a search in Google and found the
following ancient posting, the only question is how do I export EVERY
folder EXCEPT outbox into a new .pst folder?
Even if i did do that I suspect it won't work because Outlook refuses
to close, period.
Here is the Google posting I found:

You might need to export all your folders (except the Outbox) to
another PST
file then use that PST file as your standard one. You can use the File
menu

> Import & Export command to do the export. To use the new PST file as your

standard one try this:
- File menu > Open > PST > Open the PST you exported to
- Right click on the root of the set of folders you just opened in the
folder tree
- Choose Properties
- Check the "Deliver POP mail..." box
- Quit & restart Outlook

After a fresh reboot, if you start Outlook using a profile with no
transports in it (just the Personal Folders service in it), what happens?

It looks like the problem has been taken care of. I exported all of
the folders to  backup pst folders. Went to control panel mail or
mail&fax. Entered a new profile. Imported all the 'old'  pst files
into the newest pst file.
