Pardon the shouting and crossposting, but I can't seem to get an answer
to Outlook problems that I'm having. Perhaps there is some fault in my
presentation, but other than one suggestion for one problem (which
didn't work) there's been no response and I need answers.
How would I get my needs for Outlook information and problem resolution
met in ways other than newsgroups?
If you've read this far, perhaps you would be kind enough to help me
with the following three items:
1. When I try to send email from Outlook 2003 using Word 2003 as my HTML
email editor, I get an "Interface not registered" error message.
2. Also, when I try to reply to email where Word 2003 is the editor, I
get the following error message: "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-
mail editor. However, Word is not available, not installed, or is not
the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used
instead. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not
correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program."
3. I'm using Outlook 2003 on an XP machine. Often (I don't know if it's
every time or not), when I send out an email, if someone replies
including my message as part of theirs, the apostrophes are replaced
with a " " (a vertical line with "arrows" on both ends). Sometimes this
happens in (mostly HTML) email sent to me, as well.
I notice that the versions are slightly different, and wonder how that
happened.

How can I fix these problems? My installation CDs are halfway across
the county, so re-running setup isn't a good option, but I can have them
excavated from storage and sent to me as a last resort.

Try this: open a command line window and enter "Regsvr32.exe
%Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll"

The above may fix this problem, too. You can also try using the /regserver
switch on the Outlook command line. I.e., open a command line window and
type "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe" /regserver
(include the quotes).

This could very well be a problem on the recipient's end, but what character
encoding are you using?

might be a problem with the way Word is registered on
your computer. Found this suggestion at the same
site ...maybe it helps
Create a file named Register.bat, and then place the file
in the WindowsDirectory\System32\ folder on your computer.
Add the following line to the BAT file:
for %%v in ( *.dll ) do regsvr32 /s %%v
Run the BAT file.
That should resolve the "Interface not Registered error
when Word is the email editor" in Outlook.

Cool! With one swell foop you solved the first two problems. I used
the regsvr32 option, the /regserver switch didn't work and gave me a bad
switch message (how does one find the command line switches anyway?).
I think Priya's option would have worked, too, but was more of a shotgun
effect.
The preferred character encoding is set to Western European (Windows)
but the "Auto select encoding for outgoing messages" is checked. I
tried sending and replying using the above encoding and then UTF-8 but
couldn't reproduce the problem. But, though annoying, this is a minor
problem, and I am one happy mothe......., er, person to have the first
two solved.
Thanks to everyone who responded, and if anyone knows what the character
encoding problem is, please let me know. I have another poster from
here who emailed me to ask if I'd ever gotten an answer on this issue
since she has the same problem.
