Share PST Files

The short question:

Is there a way to allow multiple users to have a PST
file open at the same time? Where one user adds an
email the other users will see this new information?

(SBS2003R2 - Exchange 2003 - Outlook 2003)

I just noticed there's Exchange server 2003. Why use PST when you have an
Exchange server?

That was part of the longer question.

I'd like to be able to archive job specific information
into PST files located in the respective job folder so
anyone who works on the job can have access to
the correspondence. But if more than one person
can't have the PST file open there is no point.

Exchange Public Folder may be the answer.

That crossed my mind, just have investigated yet.
Some users are difficult to deal with, so anything
"new" is going to be a royal pain for me.

Who say this? We did not find a Microsoft website with information that it
is not recommended to develop a Store provider with PST files as central
stores.

I've not done much with public folders other than
making use of company contacts. The PST approach
would be easy since I can store each project's data
in a specific project folder structure and all data would
get archived to DVD when the time comes.

Can I control where the public folder data is stored
on a per-project basis?

Did you give links without reading the content?

work from the same Personal Folders .pst file at the same time, because
these files are not designed for shared access."

Sure you may find a workaround but when Exchange server is there, why not
use it?

sorry I do not know that "slipstick" is the same as "Microsoft".

I asked for a website of Microsoft where you can read that a PST file is not
designed for sharing.

Sorry, it is not a "workarround" it is a Store Provider like Exchange based
on PST files.
PST means "Personal Storage" but you can share the Outlook profiles where
the PST files are connected. If Microsoft did not develop this kind of tool,
this means not that it is not possible.

Till Outlook 2007, Outlook could not remind you from "Sub folders". Did you
write: Sorry, but Outlook was not designed to remind you from subfolders? It
is designed to do this, but they forget to activate this kind of reminders.

Because Exchange server can not share PST files. If you "archive" your
Exchange Mailboxes to reduce the Exchange server you can not share the
information of your archive PST files.

If you have many files (arround 500 GB) that you want to share only with a
limited numbers of users, it could be helpfull to have a program that can
share information outsite the Exchange to reduce the Exchange server.

And many other reasons. We have a customer with 150 users who share
construction plans in PST files, because they lost some datas after the
backup of Exchange. I am not against Exchange, but you can share PST files,
not with Microsoft but with other solutions.

shared PST files and give access to clients that would like to use it,
assign permissions to these clients.
