C:\Documents and Settings\wallen\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
No archive.pst folder exists. I do find a large wa.pst which might be the
actual archive folder. Currently the Archive Folders list at left show three
subfolders: Deleted Items, Sent Items, Search Folders. All are empty.
My Outlook runs on an Exchange server. However, I have specified that I want
local cache, and that procedure works with the other folders (that is, I am
able to read messages even when I am not connected to the Internet and
therefore not connected to the Exchange server.
Is there an installation error is not having an archive.pst folder? If
wa.pst might be the archive folder (it shows a modified date of today
although I did not archive today), how would I get it to show up in Outlook
folders at the left panel?
You can open your wa.pst file with the File | Open | Outlook Data File command.

If you check the properties of your Sent Items folder, what does it show as the name of the archive .pst file?

When I search for *.pst, archive1.pst does not show up.
I do archive deleted folder, it appears in the list under archive folders
(in list at left of Outlook) but it is empty.
Is choosing archive-don't archive a folder-by-folder choice?
w
Maybe a dumb question, but why would you want to archive items that you've deleted? Trash is trash, as I see it. I have my Deleted Items folder set to permanently delete items more than 3 days old. That gives me time to retrieve anything that I might have deleted by mistake.

No, I really don't archive trash. It just happened to be the only folder I
could immediately find that did not have "Do Not Archive" checked.
I've set Inbox and Sent to auto-archive. I'll see what happens when that
time comes around.
I wonder if anybody else uses email as an autobiography?
