Mail Filter (not junk mail)

Greetings,

I created a view filter in one of my mail folders to only show unread mail,
applied it, and then immediately went back and cleared it. However, it
appears that the filter has cascaded to lower level folders as well, and
every time I create a new folder, the filter is automatically applied to it.

Anyone know of a way to make this stop?
