In our company we just installed patch kb972363 for Outlook 2007. There are
users that since the patch was installed can't print to any printer as it
crashes and closes Outlook. So far the only way to fix this is to remove the
patch kb972363 and the crashes no longer happen. Has anyone had any similar
issues with this Outlook patch and if so know of a solution? I have seen
other posts on this but only thing anyone mentions is to uninstall the patch
which can't be a permanant solution for us as that patch is required.

What's logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

-I did try deleting the OutlPrnt file and that did not work for us.
-I also tested under a different user profile to see if user's was bad but
same issue on other users.
-I updated the HP printer drivers and tried several different printers but
nothing mattered.
-I did install a HP universal print driver and sometimes it printed without
crashing and other times it did. So it sort of improved but doesn't seem to
fix the issue.

The event viewer shows after the crash:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70,
faulting module outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70, debug?
0, fault address 0x00333d6f.

I'm getting the same fault address in my event viewer. I'm told that
when they try to print Outlook crashes, about the first 4 print lines
come out and thats about it. The only error I get is Faulting

application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70,
faulting module outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70,
debug? 0, fault address 0x00333d6f
I've uninstalled the kb972363 as stated above to see if it helps us
too. I just wanted to make sure sunny knew he wasn't by himself.

How are these machines different from the ones that do work?
Do the troubled machines work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

If you uninstall all the physical printers and print to the Microsoft Office
Document Image Writer (install it from the Office CD if you have not done so
already) or use the Microsoft XPS Document Writer (when using Windows Vista
or Windows 7), does it still crash?

Are you also using a HP printer just like sunnybug?

I can't really find anything different between the ones that work and don't.
We have computers that have the exact same setup with the same printers they
are printing to and are fine. Safe mode did not work when I tried it. It
still crashed.

I did try printing to the XPS printer and Document Image Writer and it did
not crash when I tried that. That works but doesn't help much in the way to
get them or print to the network printers without it crashing. I could have
them print to the image writer then print that which probably would work but
that is only a work around and I doubt they would agree to do that for long.

We have recently found the same problem in our company on a few devices that
are running Office 2007. We enabled Cached mode and now they work fine.

We are also experiencing this problem, with Outlook 2007 crashing when they
are trying to print. We have deleted outlprnt, we have cleared their IE
cache (read somewhere that this could be a fix), and they are working in
cached exchange mode. Should we uninstall the update? If uninstalling the
update fixes the problem, how long will it be before MS releases an update to
fix the problem with the previous update?

I have the same issue on a couple of Vista Enterprise (sp2) machines running
Office 2007 sp2. See my thread in microsoft.public.outlook.printing.

Still without a resolution. The only thing we have not tried is upgrading
the printer drivers on our print server.

My customer is already running in Cached Mode and she doesn't have the update
installed. I've delted the Outlpnt file and it didn't crash for a few days
but it started doing it again. I've taken her out of Cached mode to see if
that will help.

Hi

Has removing KB972363 actually helped?

I am having this issue with about 5-6 people in my company and it doesn't
seem to fix it.
