Magically re-appearing calendar event reminder

We are using Office 2000 SR-1 and we had a system crash in
Nov/03, which resulted in major Outlook e-mail problems.
We have cleared almost everything up, but we have a
recurring problem with reminders of deleted appointments
and events re-appearing and we are unable to eliminate
them.

We have run scanpst.exe followed
by "outlook.exe" /cleanreminders, but have not been able
to resolve the problem. Do you have any other
suggestions, other than the infamous, "reload"?

I've skimmed most of the posts o this topic but haven't found a resolution, is there a a way to get the calender to stop sending reminders for deleted events? Not just deleted recurring events but single events that get deleted do it as well. On a different subject. Is there a way to change my default notification settings so that I don't have to edit them for every single event that I enter?
