If you still have access to the old PC, you should copy over the
original}section files from C:\documents and settings\{yourname}\My
Documents\My Notebook (assuming you're transferring from ON2003) or the
location(s) of the notebook(s) if you're transferring from ON2007.

If youneed to restore from the backups, use Windows Explorer to manually
drag the latest dated versions of the backup files of each section you
want to restore into a new folder. Manualy rename each file to remove
the date and "(backup)" text. Then copy those sections into the correct
path for ON2003 (above) or to the location where you want to keep them in
ON2007.

Thank you for the help.

I have just rescued my old PC before my MIS department trashed the disk -
copied the file system and am now OK.

Seems that the built-in backup is not really meant for disaster recovery.

That is true - it's for restoring individual section files, but the total
archive can be used in the way I described to do a full restoration. It
won't help you recover any changes made to the sections since the last
backup.

Restored Sections (.one files) this morning. What a cumbersome process, but
it works! Thought the demand would be there for a streamline process as
OneNote users backup and restore files daily

It doesn't happen as often as you might think. In fact, I've been using
OneNote since...well...before the beginning <grin> and I can honestly say
that I think I've only had to restore from backup maybe twice.
