I have to repair (and perhaps re-install) Office 2003. How do I save my
current Word, Excel, and Outlook toolbars, and restore them after the repair
or reinstall?

Search your profile for the file "normal.dot" (your profile on Windows XP is
located at C:\Documents and Settings\<username> or on Vista or Windows 7 at
C:\Users\<username>).

Make sure that Word is closed, then copy the normal.dot somewhere such as
your desktop. Once Office is removed and re-installed, copy it back to the
same location.

That's for Word, right? What about Excel? Doesn't Excel have its own
toolbar file somewhere? And Outlook?

excel11.xlb and outcmd.dat. for Outlook, may be better to copy back the whole
Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder

I found normal.doc in My Documents. I found normal.dot in Templates. Do I
copy back both of these?

Won't hurt to do both--
