Posted this message to the WinXP list without success.
Maybe folks on this one can help!?

-----Original Message-----

Win XP seems to think that some of my files are always in
use by someone else!

When I double click on a Word or Excel file in Explorer I
get the message 'filename is already being used by Phil
Jones - do you want to make a copy?'. If I click on
Cancel, I just go ahead and work on the file. Oddly,
however, I don't get the message if Word or Excel is
already running, but with no file open.

Suggestions gratefully welcomed!

Regards

Hi Phil,

It sounds like the file associations need to be recreated. Go to Start/Run
and run the following:

winword /r
excel /regserver
powerpnt /regserver
msaccess /regserver

Note that there is a space before the forward slash.
