We are running SharePoint 2007 and I'm running Outlook 2007. I have alerts
set up that send me e-mails. When I try to open an alert from within Outlook
2007 I receive an error message "Cannot open this item". But when I go to
Webmail I'm able to open the item and see the contents.
Is this a security setting in Outlook 2007 or am I missing something or is
this a known issue with Outlook 2007?
Thanks-

Also just so you guys know, this problem also breaks activesync and windows
mobile 5 phones. As long as you don't open outlook2007 and sync your inbox
everything with sharepoint alerts works fine. As soon as you open outlook
2007 and sync your inbox and you have an alert present in your inbox your
active sync will no longer syncronize and will give a server error until you
remove the alert from your inbox. So Outlook 2007 is definatley the cause
because if you never open it and use webmail and or outlook 2003 all alerts
and active sync work properly.
They are supposed to call me soon so we will see what happens with this as
it's a huge issue and I plan to upgrade my office to 2007 soon, we already
purchased it but this is going to put it on hold.
