When I try to log in on any of my accounts, I get the
message that some of the system data may be corrupted or
lost. Error message 0x80040507. When I click OK, the
system automatically logs out.
Please, can anybody tell me how to restore this,
preferably without having to back up or reinstall Windows
XP Home Edition.
Many thanks!

Of Belgium.
De NL mij MS wijst op het taalgebied, niet het land.

Run a repair on the OS. For XP. Insert OS disk and while system is
starting tap F12 and select boot from IDE Cd Rom or Atapi CD Rom and
as soon as you select it press the space bar when you see press any
key to boot from CD. When everything loads hit enter, F8 to agree to
the license agreement and if C:\windows XP home or Pro is listed hit R
for a repair. Let it run and restart. It will tell you that it will
take 39 min. to run.

try that hope it works.

Inderdaad. But anyway, it seems interesting.

Are you sure your copy is activated properly? I found multiple reports
related to activation, your copy may just be expired. Some additional
problem may prevent the dialog that enables you to enter a valid code to be
presented. The additional problem may be a crack :-).
