Same problem here. Running Outlook 2003 and my mail is not getting indexed.
The search window displays "Outlook Express" next to Web, News, Images,
Desktop ...
My guess is it has something to do with the registration of the default
e-mail handler. The toolbar help says: "In addition, Desktop Search will
only index e-mail stores for your default e-mail program." Seems like it's
recognizing OE as the default e-mail program, although Outlook is set as
mail handler (IE options > Programs > e-mail).
Any ideas?
1. Right click on the Windows Start button.
2. Click Properties.
3. On Start Menu tab, click Customize.
4. On "Show on Start menu" check E-mail box and select Microsoft Office
Outlook" as default.
5. Reindex desktop search.

If you still have this problem in Outlook 2003, can you please check out the
"index my Outlook mailbox?" section in this link?
