Subject: Indexing Public Folders
are there any plans to include indexing & searching of Public Folders to MSN
Search ? I'm sure many people need this feature (especially in business
environments). I'm still running LookOut, alongside MSN Desktop Search, just
for the Public Folder support.

I second it.

Add indexing of delegate email folders and public folders.
I regularly have other email accounts opened up as a delegate, but these do
not get indexed.  This would be a great help.

wrt Public Folders...

It isn't pretty, but there is a way to have them indexed:

- Add whatever folders you want indexed to your Favorites public folder
- Right click on Public folders, choose Properties, then click Advanced.
- On the Advanced tab, check both "Used Cached Exchange Mode" and "Download
Public Folder Favorites".

Thanks for the reply, I will give it a try.

Since it is beta and free, no complaints from me.

... not very practical when you have many, large public folders, like my
employer does... we keep tons of documentation and technical info in PFs... I
hope this gets solved quickly. After all, when MS bought LookOut, they
obtained the means to add this functionality to Desktop Search, didn't they ??

This is the way I'm set up and it doesn't index the cached copy.

Try to mark the messages as unread, then check if you can find something.
I noticed it doesn't find something until you post new message or modify in
some way old messages (old posts).

Well,  the folder is one that has contacts in it.   Not sure that marking
unread makes sense.

I did a test: I have added contact folder from public folders to favorites
(MSN already installed and I use Outlook 2003 in cache mode). I can search
items with MSN without problems. You are right, you can't mark "unread" for
contacts, but maybe you want to try to change Category, for one contact for
example...

By the way, you can select all contacts (Ctrl+A), then right click and now
you can Select as Unread...
