Hi, I've seen many, many threads everywhere on the web about users reporting
constant disconnections problems with MSN Messenger.
I have no solution for this yet, but here is an overview of what I have been
experiencing for the past year or so. I sincerly hope that developpers will
take a look at this and find a way around, because there IS a problem.
Facts:
- BELL Sympatico ISP, Linksys WRT54G router with Linksys Firmware
Everything fine.
Changed ISP...
- Videotron ISP, Linksys WRT54G router with Linksys Firmware
MSN Disconnects many times a day, and disconnects nearly everytime I try to
use webcam.
Lived like that for several months, updated Linksys Firmware on router with
no change.. until:
Replaced Firmware on Linksys WRT54G for DD-WRT 23SP2 Micro
- Videotron ISP, Linksys WRT54G router with DD-WRT Firmware
No more MSN problems, everything is fine!
Changed router for a Cisco 1710
- Videotron ISP, Cisco 1710 router with latest IOS software for this platform
MSN Disconnections are back. Exact. Same. Problem.
This problem has something to do with ISP and router at the same time, but
it is hard to find what is causing this problem.
Note that uPNP has never been activated, no matter the router/firmware. I've
always been using static LAN addresses.
Please, Microsoft, look into this. There is a real problem here and I am not
the only one experiencing such difficulties.
Thank you,
Patrice
