I recovered from a hard drive crash yesterday. New install of WinXP Pro and
SP2 has been installed and all updates performed.

Installed MSN from the CD (premium subscriber) and now it refuses to let me
sign in. It gives me the number "56" under the butterfly and tells me to
contact support. Of course, there doesn't seem to be an actual PHONE number
to do this, so I'm waiting on what I am sure will be an illuminating reply
from their customer support email system. I'm hoping someone here will be
able to help more quickly.

Also, it simply refuses to uninstall (vial control panel > add/remove
programs) to allow me to try installing again.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Go to www.passport.net, sign in with your primary account and update your
account information. After you've done this, open up MSN but don't sign in.
At the 'welcome' window, hold down Ctrl+Shift+F11 and choose remove
accounts. Then double click the MSN butterfly again and re-enter your
account information and sign in.

After doing the above steps, everything should work fine. If not, update me
here on your progress :)

It shouldn't really be a problem, but chances are the version of MSN Premium
you've got on your CD isn't the latest 9.2 version.
It may be worth downloading and installing the latest version straight off.
You can find the download here :-
